Ifa priest and veteran oral poet, Chief Yemi Elebuibon, has given an insight to why the traditional powers of Yoruba activist, Sunday Igboho, could not stop the Department of State Security when they invaded his Ibadan home on Thursday.

According to him, it was not that the powers failed, but he was caught unawares.

He said “It is not that his (Igboho’s) charms failed him, the whole raid was an attack, an invasion, a tragedy.

“He was not prepared for the attack, it happened all of sudden but he who fights and runs lives to fight another day. A warrior who fights and doesn’t know how to retreat will perish with the battle. He (Igboho) ran to fight another day, he didn’t abandon his followers because if he hadn’t escaped, it would have been a different thing entirely.”

Elebuibon chided the DSS for raiding Igboho’s house without first inviting him.

According to him, what is normally done in civilised countries he has visited is for the security agents to suround the building until the accused comes out.
