Veteran actor, Jide Kosoko, has dissociated himself and the Theatre Arts and Movie Practitioners Association of Nigeria from a statement by fellow actor, Aderemi Adedeji, aka Olofana.
The latter had said that sexual practices were a part of actors’ lives as they were a part of other sectors.
But Kosoko said on Thursday that TAMPAN did not share this sentiment.
He said so in a video post in which he clarified the association’s position on its admonishment of actresses Iyabo Ojo and Nkechi Blessing.
According to him, the elders of the Yoruba film industry are not out to bring the actresses down but only to ask them to stop referring to TAMPAN and the industry in insulting ways.
Noting that they did not stop the alleged defilement by Baba Ijesha, Kosoko however said on Olofana’s statement: “That is not what we are and he does not represent us. It is not ‘we’ that he was representing. I believe he was emotionally carried away by Iyabo Ojo’s comment. We are not part of that.”
