If there is any young man that Sunday, July 11 appeared to have been made for, it is Kingdom Kroseide.
He surely shared the day with the Euro-winning Italian lads when in a cool but pulsating African corner, he emerged winner of the Nigerian Idol 2021.
Now, he had to be worshipped with the sumptuous prizes the organisers had in store: 30milllion naira with all an expense paid weekend trip to Dubai for two; a 6-track EP recording deal, a brand new SUV, Bigi-branded refrigerator and 1 year of Bigi drinks, all-expense-paid trip to Seychelles and DSTV explora fully installed with 12 month’s premium subscription.
They are the rewards for his superlative performance and a confirmation that, if well tended, by thy talent shall shine.
Although an undergraduate who had not made much impact on the scene, he heard about the Nigerian Idol perks, his Kingdom came and eventually left with the super crests.
The result of the contest was announced during the live grand finale which aired on Sunday July 11, 2021.
A contestant of destiny, Kingdom survived all elimination phases where he finished as top 2 with fellow contestant Francis. One of his best performances was when he delivered the Fella Kuti reminiscence of “I nor be gentle man” and the also the “Lon Sleeps”.
As the organisers note in a statement, after over 16 million votes which was the highest the show has ever recorded, Kingdom emerged as the fans favourite with the highest number of votes.
His profile shows that he is a Computer Science and informatics student at the Federal University Otuoke, Bayelsa State. He is really no stranger to singing. Kingdom sings with the Pamela Scott Music band based in Port Harcourt and has performed at wedding ceremonies, birthday parties and church services. He comes from a family of four and has a younger brother and two younger sisters.
“part from the fact that he is surrounded by people who believe in him, Kingdom thinks he has what it takes to be the next Nigerian Idol because music is what he is most passionate about.
For the first time ever, we saw Seyi Shay cry – and Kingdom’s captivating and heartfelt performance was responsible for the tears. It was the first time we had ever seen such a reaction and , just judging by it, we knew Kingdom was destined for great things on Nigerian Idol. How great? Guess we’ll just have to wait to find out,” the organisers noted at the beginning of the show.
