A major constitutional battle appears to be gathering momentum in the country as governors from southern states are meeting in Lagos today, July 5, to discuss the ban they placed on open grazing.
While they had announced the ban weeks ago, President Muhammdu Buhari has tactically overruled it.
He instead instructed the Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami, to dig out old grazing routes.
This is thus expected to form a major agenda for the meeting.
Already in Lagos are Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Nyesom Wike (Rivers), Adegboyega Oyetola (Osun), Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi (Enugu), and Godwin Obaseki (Edo) represented by his deputy, Philip Shaibu.
Others are Okezie Ikpeazu (Abia), Emmanuel Udom (Akwa Ibom), Diri Duoye (Bayelsa), Willie Obiano (Anambra), Ben Ayade (Cross Rivers), Ifeanyi Okowa (Delta), David Umahi (Ebonyi), Kayode Fayemi (Ekiti), Hope Uzodimma (Imo), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), and Oluwaseyi Makinde (Oyo).
