The Senate has rejected the nomination of Lauretta Onochie as a Commissioner of the Independent Electoral Commission.
The nomination of the aide of President Muhammadu Buhari has been a subject of controversy as she is believed to be a member of the All Progressives Congress.
Although she said she had ceased being one when she appeared before the House of Representatives, a legal document that recently emanated from her indicated otherwise.
The Senate on Thursday, however, put a stop to the debate when it rejected the nomination.
Chairman of the Committee, Kabiru Gaya, in his report, said Onochie did not satisfy the provisions of the Federal Character principles.
