Twitter management has reacted to Friday’s ban on its operations in Nigeria.
The Federal Government had announced the indefinite embargo on the social media giant’s operations, in a statement by Segun Adeyemi, Special Adviser on Media to the Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed.
Twitter’s Senior Policy Communications Manager for Europe, Middle East and Africa, Sarah Hart, stated this in an email response quoted by TheCable:
“The announcement made by the Nigerian Government that they have suspended Twitter’s operations in Nigeria is deeply concerning.
“We’re investigating and will provide updates when we know more.
Meanwhile, condemnation is greeting the ban, with the Nigerian Bar Association and anti-corruption society, SERAP, threatening lawsuit against the government.
