The world’s largest meat company JBS has largely overcome the consequences of a massive cyber-attack.
All plants in the United States were expected to be working at full capacity again on Thursday, the Brazilian company announced.
On Wednesday, the majority of the factories were running again.
This included all pork and poultry production worldwide, as well as most beef plants in the U.S. and Australia.
JBS had been the target of an attack with blackmail software at the weekend, the perpetrators are suspected to be in Russia.
In such ransom ware attacks, computers are encrypted and the attackers demanded money for their release.
JBS stressed that the backup servers with backed-up data were not affected and were used to restore the systems.
Initially, however, various plants in the U.S., among others where about a quarter of beef and a fifth of pork production comes from, JBS companies were at a standstill.
