Bovi recently took to his Instagram page to wisecrack those many people believe have a taste for unusual sexual practices. To be precise, the homosexuals. He said, “The difference between how women position their legs for pictures and how men do theirs! Ironically, it’s men who should pose the way women pose (some men sha) and it’s women who should stand the way men.”
He got a reply that meant much, “Trouble sleep Bovi yanga go wake am!!”, indicating that “they” are going to come for him.
Well, if there is any breed who enjoy enviable immunity on matters and personalities they joke about, comedians are the ones. They pick on presidents, kings and all. When it comes to sex and gender matters, however, some humourists have had to answer some queries in recent times.
But Bovi’s crack hasn’t raised any jab against him. Perhaps because he spoke in a coded tongue, while also not really scandalising anyone. And this style may have been one of the factors that has seen the producer, show promoter, writer, director, stand-up comedian and actor secured a good place in the country’s comedy’s world.
Born on 25th September, 1979 (age 41) in Benin City, Edo State, to Chief Eddie and Margaret Ugboma, he had always wanted to be an entertainer.
Bovi began his career in April 2007 when he starred in the ‘Extended Family’ movie which he personally wrote and produced. Now, the organiser of popular stand-up comedy concert, Bovi Man on Fire, is said to be currently worth about N2bn as he derives breakthrough from entertainment, endorsement, businesses.
Bovi has worked with many acclaimed and already made comedians in Nigeria such as Buchi, Basketmouth, Bakassi, I Go Dye, I Go Save and Julius Agwu. By 2008, he had become one of the most sought-after and most followed comedians in Nigeria.
Interestingly, he started out as a reporter at Nigeria Television Authority (NTA) and later became a personal assistant to Richard Mofe Damijo (RMD).
He runs a production house called Kountry Kulture Networks.
He is married to Kris Asimonye Ugboma.
