Manchester United player Marcus Rashford has said that a Mathematics teacher in a UK school is among those racially abusing him on social media after the club lost to Villarreal in Wednesday evening Europa League final.
According to him, he has received up to 70 of such abuses but the teacher remains particularly curious to him as he sent him monkey emoji, despite the fact that his (abuser) identity is known.
He noted: “At least 70 racial slurs on my social accounts counted so far.
“I’m more outraged that one of the abusers that left a mountain of monkey emojis in my DM is a maths teacher with an open profile. He teaches children!! And knows that he can freely racially abuse without consequence.”
Pundits are likely to be alarmed that racial abuse is deepening.
The will also remember that the man who can be said to have caused Man U’s eventual fall in the well-fought dramatic game is not black.
That is goalkeeper David De Gea, who missed the 10th penalty kick for the team.
They are thus likely to wonder what would have happened if a Rashford had missed the kick.
