The wind of terrorism seemingly blowing through the South-East again spelt tragedy on Sunday as gunmen killed five people in Ozobulu, Anambra State.
The gunmen have, since about a month ago, added another dimension to the security challenges the nation is facing.
They have been attacking police stations and killing cops, while some other government facilities too have not been spared.
Sunday attack’s victims were said to be members of a vigilance group whose office was attacked.
The State Police Public Relations Officer, Ikenga Tochukwu confirmed the incident but said he had not been briefed on the number of casualties.
The PPRO said, “Yes, there was an attack on Ozubulu but not the police station but vigilante office by the hoodlums
“They came in Sienna vehicles, motorcycles and attacked the office of the vigilante. Security operatives have been deployed to the area and normalcy has been restored.”
