The Lawmaker representing Gusau/Tsafe Federal Constituency, Alhaji Kabiru Maipalace, has distributed food items as Ramadan palliatives to 5,000 beneficiaries in Gusau and Tsafe local government areas.
Speaking during the distribution of the items in Gusau, on Sunday, Maipalace said the gesture was aimed at providing succour to his constituents, caused by the current economic hardship in the country.
The items distributed by the lawmaker included, Rice, Spaghetti, Indomie, Macaroni and Milk, among others.
The lawmaker said he procured assorted food items worth millions of naira to be distributed to people in his constituency, to perform the Ramadan fast with ease.
“So far we have reached out to 5,000 beneficiaries and the gesture will continue, ” he said.
According to him, the beneficiaries comprised officials of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), political and community based organisations, security agents, and media organisations.
Other beneficiaries were; persons with disability, orphans, the less privileged and vulnerable groups, women groups, religious and community leaders.
He commended the committee that handled the distribution for their fairness and assured the constituents that more of the gesture was underway.
Some of the beneficiaries, who spoke to journalists at the event, expressed their gratitude to the lawmaker for easing their condition in the holy month of Ramadan.
