The Khadimiyya for Justice and Development Initiative (KJDI), an NGO, has donated N5 million to traders at the Katsina Central Market, and sympathised with the entire people of Katsina state over the recent fire disaster at the market.
Hundreds of shops were razed, following a fire outbreak at the Katsina central market, on March 22, which resulted in the destruction of property running into billions of naira.
Alhaji Ibrahim Abubakar-Jambali, Publicity Secretary, KJDI, who disclosed this in a statement in Birnin Kebbi, on Sunday, expressed his shock over the unfortunate incident, describing it as an ordeal destined by Almighty Allah.
Speaking to the traders at the market, the Leader of the Khadimiyya delegation and the National Treasurer of the initiative, Alhaji Muhammad Bello-Nasarawa, commiserated with them and urged them to accept the incident in good faith.
Bello- Nasarawa, who presented a cash donation of N5 million to the victims on behalf of the NGO and it’s founder, the Attorney- General of the Federation and Minister of Justice, Abubakar Malami (SAN), urged other NGOs and the wealthy to come to the aid of the victims.
Responding on behalf of the Katsina state government, Special Adviser to the Governor on Markets Development, Alhaji Abubakar Yusuf, thanked the delegation for the visit, describing it as first of its kind by an NGO.
He said the founder of Khadimiyya first made a pledge to the victims of fire incident when he led the Federal Government’s delegation to commiserate with the people of the state.
Yusuf said they were surprised when the pledge was immediately redeemed in cash, leading to their visit to the victims.
Also speaking, Chairman of the traders in the market, Alhaji Umar Dabo, prayed to Almighty Allah to reward the foundation for its humanitarian activities in the country.
The chairman also promised to ensure justice and fairness in the distribution of the assistance amongst the victims of the fire incident.
