Ramadam fasting is a big deal for many Muslims. It is a time for rededication to Islam, for sober reflection and, indeed, for obeying Allah’s will that fasting must be done during the sacred month.
As a result, even folks who you would consider non-religious, due to their lifestyle or vocation, also assert their faith. Many might, for instance, not think that Sound Sultan will be Ramadan conscious. But he, days ago, proved such people wrong when, as the Ramadan started, he noted on his Instagram page: “I SEE YOU, RAMADAM KAREEM”. For the singer real-named Olanrewaju Fasasi, it was a way of telling his over one million followers that he is deeply in spirit.
Of course, the award-winning star, whose genre circles around R&B, hip hop, reggae, fuji and afrobeat, has normally been on the moderate side in terms of lifestyle. His career has, indeed, not been a hub of scandals.
The rapper, songwriter, executive producer,
singer, actor, basketball club co-owner, comedian and recording artiste is regarded as one of the spear-headers of modern hip hop in Nigeria.
He started his musical career in 1991 as he often regards his brother, Baba Dee, who studied Theatre Arts, as his influencer. By 1999, he was already in a band and has won numerous local talent-hunt shows and often host shows for studio sessions.
He released his first single “Jagbajantis” in 2000, a hit in modest terms. After independently releasing other songs and featuring in hit songs of other artistes, he was signed onto the Kennis Music label.
In 2009, Sound Sultan married his long-term girlfriend, Chichi Morah (known as Farida Fasasi). They have three children.
He currently has 1.1m Followers on Instagram.
In an interview, when asked about his relationship with Wizkid, he revealed that he had known Wizkid as far back as 2008 when he was a student of the Lagos State University, LASU.

In 2012, Sound Sultan was made a UN Ambassador for Peace for his exemplary lifestyle and career.
The Naija Ninja record label owner and music veteran, Olanrewaju Fasasi, popularly known as Sound Sultan, was born on the 27 November, 1976. That was in chilly, beautiful Jos, Plateau State.
