Celebrated actress, Bukola Awoyemi, popularly known as Arugba, has raised the alarm over some false claims that certain online platforms are making about her. She says the platforms are ascribing to her the schools she never attended, falsifying her age and doctoring the account of her career progression.

She notes in a video post and a press release on Tuesday that she is pressed to quickly alert the world so that people who read the false profiling, but who know her true life journey and humble achievements, would not think she is the one orchestrating the shameless falsehood.

According to her, the following have published the false claims: InformationCradle, Nigerian Finder, MyBioHub, naijagists.com, pinterest.com, keninfo.com.ng and thecityceleb.com.

The actress explains that in the guise of doing a celebrity biography and news backgrounding on her, they claimed that she attended the Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife. This, she says, is a criminally false piece of information, adding that she is proudly a graduate of Performing Arts from the University of Ilorin, and never attended OAU, fondly called Great Ife, for which she adds that she reserves admiration, as she does other citadels.

Arugba further states that those she describes as the fake biographers said she attended schools in Abeokuta, Ogun State, and that she studied film in a France-based school. These are blatantly false, she stresses, wondering why “the so-called media platforms” would be conjuring what she calls the nonsense.

Another claim by the media groups is that Bukola is 32. This, she again says, is fake news as her real age is being reduced by over seven years. Relatedly, the platforms claim that her ‘networth is $10m’.

But she wonders if publishers busy inventing someone’s academic background could ever take the required pains to research his or her worth.

Arugba says: “I, therefore, want to emphasise to the whole world that I did not feed the liars with the nonsense they are publishing and circulating. I know what to do legally and the process is on. But I feel the urgent need to cry to the whole world that I am not a vain being while I expect them to pull down the lies immediately. I thank God, my family, friends, associates, investors and fans for the progress I am making and I know that the future is waiting for me with bigger and a confounding glory.

“It is those who are desperate for clicks, and, therefore, that want to convince everyone that the colour of snow is blue or black.”
