The Police in Jigawa have arrested a 25-year-old man, Abubakar Adamu, for allegedly raping a 16-year-old girl.
The Police Public Relations Officer in the state, ASP Zubairu Aminuddeen, confirmed the arrest to newsmen, in Dutse, on Wednesday.
Aminuddeen said the suspect was arrested on March 28, in Zanga village of Birnin Kudu Local Government Area of the state, after the father of the victim had reported at the Birnin Kudu Police Station on March 26, at about 1:30 p.m. that his daughter, who went out to hawk, had not returned home.
“Later, the parents got information that the suspect, living in the same area, had called the victim to his room.
“The girl was traced and found in the suspect’s room and when questioned, she narrated that the suspect forcefully had carnal knowledge of her three different times in his room,” he said.
He said the victim had been taken to the Sexual Assault Referral Centre (SARC) at the General Hospital, Dutse, for medical examination.
The PPRO said that the case was still under investigation.
