President Muhammadu Buhari has ordered the police and other military operatives to shoot any unauthorised person carrying AK-47 rifles.
The indiscriminate bearing and using of the weapon has heightened insecurity across the country, especially with many herders seen wielding it.

But Buhari’s Special Assistant on Media, Shehu Garba, on Wednesday said during an interview with BBC that the President had ordered a stoppage to it.

“The president has ordered security forces to go into the bushes and shoot whoever they see with sophisticated weapons like AK-47,”he said.
