Police in Afghanistan’s northern Takhar province have arrested two drug smugglers and discovered nearly 200 gram of heroin from their stomach.
The provincial Police spokesman, Abdul Khalil Asir, said on Wednesday.
The first smuggler was arrested in Kalafgan district early on Wednesday and after checking, the Police took him to the hospital and doctors discovered 101 gram of heroin placed in capsules from his stomach.
The man is under medical treatment in the hospital, the official said.
According to the official, the Police captured another drug smuggler from the provincial capital Taluqan city around noon and found 98 capsules each carrying one gram of heroin from his stomach.
In a similar operation, the Police raided a suspected place in Shirzad district of the eastern Nangarhar province in the wee hours of Wednesday and besides discovering illicit drugs, also destroyed a heroin lab, the provincial government confirmed in a statement. (
