China on Tuesday offered COVID-19 vaccine doses to countries in Central and Eastern Europe and called for more cooperation and collaboration.
China was ready for vaccine cooperation, President Xi Jinping said during an online summit with 17 Central and Eastern European countries, according to state news agency Xinhua.
Xi said Serbia had already received one million vaccine doses by a Chinese firm and Hungary has signed a deal with a Chinese vaccine manufacturer.
China would actively review similar opportunities with other countries in the region, he added.
He also said openness and participation were key to a lasting relationship between China and the region.
Beijing has invested billions of euros in infrastructure in southern and Eastern Europe in recent years.
This has been criticised for instance by the EU as an attempt to extend Chinese influence and divide Europe.
