If you are in a perfect relationship with someone who gives you nice gifts and takes you out to a fancy restaurant every Valentine’s Day, then it’s probably one of your favourite holidays. However, for other people, it’s absolutely worse because they find themselves single on that day and they end up devouring an entire box of chocolates alone since their friends and families are out on romantic dates.
To some people, the Valentine ‘s Day is a frustrating holiday because some horror stories about the day prove that it’s worst of the year.
1. WORST WAY TO END THINGS
This girl was having the perfect Valentine’s Day. Her fiancé treated her to a nice dinner, he took her back to where they had their first date, and he capped the romantic evening off by giving her a bouquet of beautiful flowers. It seems like the kind of date you only see in a Hollywood rom-com, but out of nowhere, the night turned into a horror flick. Why on earth did he put so much effort into the Valentine’s date if he didn’t want to be with her anymore? Her fiancé flipped her entire world upside-down by calling off engagement.
2. THIS GUY’S FACE DESERVES TO BE SLAPPED
It takes a lot of courage to ask your crush to be your Valentine, especially if you have no idea about how he feels about you before asking. This brave girl mustered up the confidence to give the guy she did like for ages a box of chocolates and asked to be her Valentine’s Day date, but his response was worse than she ever could have imagined . He completely shut her down and called her ugly… before taking the chocolates and leaving! He could have just said ‘’No, thank you’’ and go on his way, but this guy insulted her appearance and still took her gift. This guy deserves a slap in the fact! He is definitely not a Valentine’s Day material.
3. NO SENSE OF HUMOUR
We all want to be with someone who shares our sense of humour. This girl thought she could win over crush with a cute joke, so she gave him a Valentine’s Day card which asked if she could touch his butt. Most guys would appreciate the compliment but her lame crush simply looked at her like she was crazy and walked away. She was left feeling super embarrassed, and we’re sure things between her and the guy she liked were uncomfortable for several weeks after this awkward incident. it’s a situation like this that keeps us from ever asking anyone to be our Valentine. Spending holiday alone is better than this level of humiliation – so I think.
4. VIRGINITY IS GONE
Lot of high school girls tried their best to abstain from sex until marriage just as instructed by God and their parents. But, unfortunately, most girls have sex for the first time on the Valentine’s Day and thereby losing their virginity out of carelessness and this makes valentine Day to be a worst holiday for some people. A flurry of sweet, words, a date, a kiss and more: It is a day a Lagos-based teenager will never forget.
5. DATE THIEF
This guy had his heart in the right place, but he clearly didn’t put enough thought into his romantic Valentine’s Day gesture. He sent his longtime crush a gift, but instead of writing his whole name on the card, he only put the first letter of his first name. He hoped that would be enough to figure out who the Valentine’s gram was from, but it was not clearly written. She asked someone with the same initials if he sent the gram, and that other dude seemingly took the credit! They started dating soon after, much to the true sender’s dismay. Guys, if you are going to do something sweet for a girl you like, you should probably make sure she knows you the one who did it.
6. GOT FOOD POISONING AT HIS HOUSE
‘’ On my first Valentine’s Day with my fiancé, we tried to go to Cheesecake factory without a reservation and ended up eating takeout in his car. Later that night, I got food poisoning at his house and spent 6 months at the hospital.”
7. ‘’MY BOYFRIEND DUMPED ME VIA SKYPE ON VALENTINE’S DAY’’
‘’My long -distance boyfriend dumped me via Skype on Valentine’s Day because I had previously had a depressive episode and ‘my problems were too difficult for him to deal with.’ On top of that, I went to the doctor that day and was diagnosed with a sinus infection. So, I had to wait for an antibiotic at CVS where they were playing Taylor Swift love songs and the store was filled with college guys buying last minute chocolates and teddy bears for their girlfriends. ‘’
8. EMERGENCY BREAK -UP
The night before the Valentine’s Day, I went to the bar for dinner and drinks with my boyfriend at the time. We discussed our plans for the weekend and he told me that we had to be downtown at 4:00 pm the next day, but he didn’t want to tell me more because it was meant to be a surprise. About an hour later, he seemed a bit down. I looked at him and said, “Everything okay? You want to get out of here?” He replied with, ‘I can’t do this anymore’ and proceeded to break up with me. I immediately walked out and never heardfrom him again.
9. I WAS TECHNICALLY BRAIN DEAD
February 14th 2014, I passed out and was technically brain dead twice for eight minutes, and paramedics couldn’t find a pulse either. I spent the next five days in a medically-induced coma in the ICU. So, Valentine Day is not a good day for me.
10. SHE WAS SEEING SOMEONE ELSE
‘’Called girlfriend on Valentine’s evening from college to see if she did receive the gift I mailed. She explained that she was seeing someone else and wanted to break up. I said let’s talk it and she told me she couldn’t because he was downstairs waiting to take her out.’’
