The Ekiti State University has matriculated 174 students.

They are, however, part-time students.

The university rerated its commitment to promoting academic excellence, as it held the virtual matriculation ceremony in Ado-Ekiti for the Directorate of Part-Time Programmes for fresh students in various study centres, for the 2019/2020 academic sessions.

The Voice Chancellor, Prof. Edward Olanipekun, who stated the commitment at the ceremony, advised them to face their academics squarely and with all seriousness, saying that the institution would not condone any act of laziness.

He also enjoined the matriculants to shun cultism, examination malpractices, and all other vices, that could jeopardize their academic success in the university.

Olanipekun assured the matriculating students that they would enjoy the same rights and privileges with the regular students, as long as they obeyed all rules and regulations.

According to him, since the university was established in 1982, it has continued to justify the dreams of its founding fathers by contributing to the human development needs of Nigeria and Ekiti State, in particular.

Mr Akin Arogundade, the University’s Registrar, later administered the matriculation oath on the 174 Students, who participated through the zoom technology in compliance with COVID-19 protocols.
