The Boko Haram has confirmed it is behind the massacre of more than 43 people working on a rice farm in Zabarmari, Borno State, on Saturday.
The Abubakar Shekau faction said it carried out the act as a vengeance against one of them who arrested one of its members and handed him over to the Nigerian army.
“You think you can nab our brother and hand him to soldiers and live in peace,” a masked commander of the group asked in the video. You think Allah will forget what you have done to our brother?
“The third message is on those who notoriously nab our brethren and hand them to the military or give them a clue on us. You should know that, unless you repent, what happened to your people is awaiting you.”
Although government has given the number of those slaughtered as as 43, other sources, such as the United Nations, said over 100 were massacred.
