Motorcycle passenger dies in Anambra accident

A passenger on a motorcycle has been confirmed dead in an accident involving two other vehicles along Otolo Nnewi road, Nnewi, Anambra State.

Mr Andrew Kumapayi, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Anambra, confirmed the incident to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Awka on Sunday.

Ikumapayi said the accident ocurred at about 3:45.p.m, adding that the accident was caused by speeding which resulted into loss of control.

The FRSC boss said that four male adults were involved in the accident while one of them died in the crash.

“The crash involved a white Highlander jeep with registration number LSD911CP, a Toyota Sienna and a motorcycle both without registration numbers.

“The driver of the Highlander vehicle lost control while on top speed and rammed into the Toyota Sienna and the motorcycle, leading to the death of the motorcycle passenger.”

He said that out of the four male adults involved in the crash, three persons sustained some degree of injuries and were taken to Okoro hospital in Nnewi by FRSC rescue team from Nnewi command.

Kumapayi said that the motorcycle passenger was taken to Akwudo hospital where he was confirmed dead.

He said the body of the motorcycle passenger has been deposited at the mogue.

While condoling with the family of the dead, Kumapayi urged motorists to drive with care and avoid spending

“Speed thrills but at the same time kills. Drive safe and stay safe this ember months to avoid road traffic crashes,” he said.(NAN)
