As the Nigerian Army says it has successfully bombed the heart of the Sambisa Forest, the Borno State Government has equipped some hunters towards tackling the Boko Haram.

It has equipped the local hunters and vigilante groups with eight Toyota Hilux vehicles.

This it did in the Hawul Local Government Area, where insurgents looted four communities on Boxing Day.

Governor Babagana Zulum, who was represented by the deputy governor, Alhaji Umar Kadafur, presented the patrol vehicles and other accessories to the leaders of the vigilante groups in Azare town, in the Hawul LGA.

He said, “Borno State government will not relent or shy away from its constitutional responsibilities of protecting the lives and property of the people and will continue to remain focused in ensuring that total peace returned to the state.”
