A former Minister of Finance, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has described as a nightmare the abduction of over 300 pupils of Government Science Secondary School, Kankara Katsina State.
Insurgents Boko Haram have declared they are behind the abduction.
According to Okonjo-Iweala, the incident is a nightmare the authorities must arrest immediately.
She noted in a tweet on Tuesday:
“The abduction of more than 300 schoolboys in Katsina is heartbreaking. What a recurring nightmare. My heart goes out to the families of the missing boys. The authorities must do all possible to #BringBackOurBoys! Those using our children as pawns must be held accountable!”
Many people, including the Sultan of Sokoto, Sa’ad Abubakar, have condemned the rising insecurity in Nigeria, especially the North.
The President Muhammadu Buhari, is particularly under sharp criticism by many who believe he is performing below expectations on matters of security.
