Commissioner of Health in Lagos State, Professor Akin Abayomi, has given an update on the state of health of Governor Babajide-Sanwo-Olu.

The governor tested positive last week and has since been in isolation.

He possibly contracted the pandemic from an aide of his, who was said to have tested positive before the governor had to do the test.

The unnamed aide is the third of Sanwo-Olu’s men who have experienced the disease, as Abayomi and the governor’s Chief Press Secretary, Gboyega Akosile, had earlier tested positive and survived it.

Giving the update in Lagos on Tuesday, the commissioner said the governor was not doing badly at all.

He said:
“We wish to inform the general public that the health condition of our Incident Commander, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu is improving.

“All tests conducted on him recently indicate no signs of adverse impact of the COVID19 infection.

“We are indeed optimistic Mr. Governor will soon be free of the virus and fully back on the beat to steer the ship of our dear State.

“Our thoughts, prayers and well-wishes are with our Governor at this time. We wish him full recovery soonest.

“We wish to again reassure Lagos residents of our continued dedication to the fight against #COVID19.

“We urge Lagos residents to remain vigilant and compliant to avoid #COVID19 infection.”

Sanwo-Olu is about the ninth governor to have contracted the pandemic, with others including the Ekiti State Governor, Kayode Fayemi; Ondo State Governor, Rotimi Akeredolu; Oyo State Governor, Seyi Makinde; Bauchi State Governor, Bala Mohammed; Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State, and Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai had tested positive and recovered from the virus.

There is the fear that there is a resurgence of coronavirus, technically called second wave.

As a result, there is anxiety because many people no more respect precautionary measures.

Currently, Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha, is in self isolation after some members of his household caught the pandemic.
