A former Senator, Shehu Sanni, has slammed the Sharia police in Kano, the Hisbah, for ordering a radio station, Cool FM, to stop using the expression, ‘Black Friday’.

The Hisbah said in a letter to the station that the phrase ran to the contrary of the saredness of Fridays for Muslims.

It said it would be monitoring the station and that it would be sanctioned if it used the statement again.

Sanni, however, carpeted the Sharia police in a tweet, saying it was dissipating energy in a wrong direction.

He noted: ”Friday is our sacred day of prayer as Muslims.Whatever colour is added to it doesn’t matter.Hisbah’s threats against the phrase’Black Friday’ is nonsensical. They should focus on the killings and kidnappings going on in their domains.Their services are needed in the battlefield.”
