A major tragedy occurred in Ondo State on Thursday when the Olufon of Ifon, in Ose Local Government Area, Oba Isreal Adeusi, was assassinated.
Oba Adeusi was waylaid on his way from Akure where he was said to have attended a meeting.
Reports say nothing was stolen from his customised car while other people in the car were not hurt.
Although the has been no statement yet from the state government or police, in a report, ‘The Punch’ quotes a relative as saying:
“He was in his official car which had his customised number plate. He drove to Akure for a meeting. But on his way back, on getting to a rough road along Elegbeka, he was accosted by gunmen and shot.
“It was clearly an assassination because nothing was stolen from the vehicle and the other two occupants of the vehicle were not harmed.”
