Two domestic staff on Monday appeared in a Karu Grade I Area Court, Abuja, for allegedly breaking into their employer’s house and stealing N445,000 cash and four wristwatches.
The police charged Emmanuel Peter and Bitrus Benedict with joint act, housebreaking, mischief and theft.
The prosecutor, Ayotunde Adeyanju, told the court that the complainant, Sheu Dalhat of Karu, Abuja, reported the matter at the Karu Police Station on Oct. 31.
He said that the defendants broke into Dalhat’s house on Oct.24, when he travelled to visit his sick mother in Katsina.
He said that the defendants also stole eight bottles of perfumes, worth N33,000.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of sections 79, 353, 327 and 287 of the Penal Code.
The judge, Inuwa Maiwada, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum of N300, 000 each with one surety in like sum.
Maiwada adjourned the case until Jan. 25, 2021 for further hearing.
