A group called Anonymous, which prides itself as website hackers, launching cyber attacks against government institutions, says it has hacked the websites ofthe Independent National Electoral Commission and the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission.
This, it said, it did in solidarity with the youths protesting against police brutality in the EndSARS campaign.
Anonymous, however, noted it aimed larger than that, saying corruption must end in Nigeria.
It said in a tweet, “Official website of @officialEFCC has been taken down in support of #EndSARSProtest. CHECK HOST : https://check-host.net/check-report/df89d3bk838 TARGET : https://efccnigeria.org/efcc/ You should have expected us! #EndCorruptionInNigeria.”
A visit to the websites of the two institutions confirmed that they have been attacked.
There has been fear in some quarters that cyber attacks may make modern revolutions take dimensions unexpected, making the violence that usually accompany insurrections more complicated than ones dominated by physical arms.
