The European Union has congratulated Nigeria on her 60th independence anniversary.
The union on its official tweeter handle @EUinNigeria on Thursday by Amb. Ketil Karlsen, Head of the EU Delegation in Nigeria, urged Nigerians to unite in spite of her diverse cultures and religious rather than divide the country.
“The amazing and rich diversity of Nigeria in terms of culture, language, religion, ethnicity is simply unique and a vital strength that should make every Nigerian proud.
“Nigerians should always focus on what unites the country as togetherness is what defines the potential of Nigeria as a nation,’’ he said.
Karlsen also noted that the achievements recorded in 60 years should not be taken for granted, in spite of the number of challenges faced by the country.
According to him, the uninterrupted democratic rule for more than 20 years is worth celebrating but must be nourished.
