An Ikeja Chief Magistrates’ Court on Monday ordered that a 23-year-old man, Sodiq Abubakar, who allegedly stole text books from a primary school, be remanded in Kirikiri Correctional centre, pending legal advice.

The police charged Abubakar with theft.

Chief Magistrate J.A Adegun, who did not take the plea of Abubakar, ordered the police to send the case file to the Lagos State Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) for legal advice.

The magistrate adjourned the case until Nov. 19 for mention.

Earlier, the prosecutor, ASP Benson Emuerhi, told the court that Abubakar committed the offence on Aug. 31, at 8.00pm at Oyewole Primary School, Orile Agege, Lagos State.

He said that Abubakar stole varieties of text books from the primary school, value yet unknown.

The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of section 287 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
