Dr Akinwumi Adesina has been sworn-in as the newly re-elected eight President of the African Development Bank for a second five-year term.

The swearing-in ceremony and oath-taking took place on Tuesday and was attended by Heads of States, Governors, Nigeria’s former Vice President, Atiku Abubakar, and over 200 external stakeholders who joined physically and virtually.

On August 27, Adesina’s re-election was announced by the Chairperson of the Board of Governors of the Bank, Mrs Niale Kaba.

He was re-elected with 100 per cent votes of all regional and non-regional members of the Bank.

Adesina was first elected President of the Bank on May 28, 2015 and would begin his new term of another five years on September 1.
