The Police, on Tuesday, arraigned a 20-year-old man, Aliyu Ahmad, before a Dutse Sharia Court for allegedly stealing N53,000.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Abdussalam Baraya, told the court that the defendant, a resident of Jigawar Tsada village, committed the offence on Sept. 1.
Baraya said that the defendant trespassed into the shop of Abubakar Sani of same address and allegedly stole the sum of N53,000.
He said that the offence contravened sections 342 and 287 of the Penal Code, Laws of Jigawa State.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge of stealing preferred against him.
The Judge, Mr Muhammad Adamu, granted bail to the defendant with a surety from his close relatives.
He adjourned the case till Sept. 15, for hearing.
