Two men, Abolaji Gabriel, 35 and Samuel Mathew, 20, were on Tuesday arraigned at an Osogbo Magistrates’ Court in Osun for alleged impersonation Nigeria Army.
The defendants, whose addresses are not stated, are facing a four-count charge bordering on conspiracy, impersonation, unlawful possession and attempt to rob.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Elisha Olusegun, told the court that the defendants committed the offence on Aug. 16 around 10.00 p.m. at Old Garage Area of Osogbo.
Olusegun told the court that the defendants were apprehended, wearing complete Nigeria Army uniform “all in an attempt to rob’’.
He said the offences contravened sections 516, 109, 428(d) and 599 of the criminal code Cap 34 Vol. ll, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendants pleaded not guilty.
The defence counsel, Mr Bola Abimbola, applied for the bail for his clients “in the most liberal and affordable term’’.
The Magistrate, Mr Abayomi Ajala, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N100,000 with one surety each in like sum.
Ajala, thereafter, adjourned the case until Sept. 29 for hearing.
