Two employees of Multipro Consumer Products, who allegedly stole their employer’s property, worth N60.2 million, were on Tuesday arraigned before a Surulere Chief Magistrates’ Court in Lagos.
The defendants – Titilayo Adedapo, 38 and Ogundiran Oluwafemi, 39 were being tried on a two-count charge of conspiracy and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Anthonia Osayande, told the court that the defendants committed the offences between April 2019 and January 2020 at No. 44, Jimoh Odutola St., Surulere, Lagos.
Osayande alleged that the defendants stole 183 bottles of power oil, cartons of power oil sachets and different sizes of emperor oil, all valued N60.2 million, the property of Multipro Consumer Products Ltd.
The offences violate sections 287 (7) and 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr P. A. Ojo, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N1 million each with two responsible sureties each in like sum.
Ojo said that the sureties must be gainfully employed and show evidence of tax payment to the Lagos State Government.
The case was adjourned until Sept. 16 for substantive trial.
