A 30 year-old trader, Bola Mafimihan on Friday appeared before an Okitipupa Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ondo State, for allegedly stealing a laptop and cell phones worth N220,000.
The defendant of no fixed address was standing trial in the court on a two-count charge bordering on felony and stealing.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Zedekiah Orogbemi, told the court that the defendant and one other still at large on July 19, around 8:30 p.m at No. 4 Arikawe Street, Okitipupa in Okitipupa magisterial district, conspired to commit felony and stealing.
He said the defendant stole one HP laptop valued at N150,000 and two camera cell phones valued at N70,000, both property of one Kunbi Adeyemi.
Orogbemi said that the offences contravened Sections 516 and 390(9), Criminal Code, Cap.37, Vol.1, Laws of Ondo State, 2006.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges leveled against him.
The Chief Magistrate, Mr Musa Al-Yunus, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N200,000 and a surety in like sum with evidence of a year’s tax clearance.
Al-Yunus added that the surety must be resident within Okitipupa magisterial district.
The case was adjourned until Aug.19, for further hearing.
