The Lagos State Health Service Commission has distributed personal protective equipment (PPE) to secondary healthcare facilities in the state, to further ensure standard precautionary measures among health workers.
Mr Segun Onakoya, the Director of Pharmaceutical Services of the commission said on Monday it was part of the state initiative to further curb the spread of COVID-19 among health workers.
Onakoya, while presenting the PPE to some officials of the health facilities, said 75 per cent alcohol-based sanitisers and other items were produced by the commission.
“This initiative is part of moves by the Lagos State Government to appreciate front-line workers during COVID-19 pandemic as a gesture to soar-up PPE supplies in our secondary care facilities.
“There had been an impressive response from representatives coming in for the palliatives to receive the medical intervention.
“Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in his quest for qualitative delivery and undiluted medicare, prompted the production of effective supplies of PPEs.
“The commission had effected and distributed to recipients under the supervision of the Permanent Secretary, Dr Benjamin Eniayewun, for synchronised dispensation,’’ the director said.
Mrs Funmi Iluyomade, a storekeeper with Apapa General Hospital, who received the medical items on behalf of her facility, commended the commission for the initiative.
