Veteran actress, Fausat Balogun, aka Madam Saje, has played down the sexual harassment syndrome that many allege exists in the Nigerian movie industry.

According to her, relationships between male and female practitioners exist in all industries.

She, however, notes that such a romantic situation should not be by compulsion.

She says nothing stops a director from communication her mind to an actress if he has feelings for her.

In an interview with ‘Sunday Punch’, she says, “I have always been asked this question and I always say it’s a lie. Doctors and nurses sleep with one another and people in other industries do the same. Why is it that when it has to do with the movie industry, people start crying foul. If a director likes an actress, he should express his feelings to her and if she likes him too, they can go ahead to do whatever they please. Even if the feeling is not mutual, that shouldn’t cause any acrimony. It must not be under compulsion.”

Balogun laments that the COVID-19 pandemic is taking its toll on entertainment practitioners, saying governments are not offering them any palliatives.
