A bridge under construction by soldiers as part of military training in far Eastern Russia on Wednesday collapsed, injuring 18 people, state media reported.
The soldiers were identified as members of Russia’s railway building forces, training to quickly construct infrastructure for military use.
According to the state News Agency, TASS, the injured have been evacuated to a military hospital in the nearby Khabarovsk region.
The structure, under construction in the village of Telman, in Russia’s Jewish autonomous region, is believed to have collapsed due to a safety equipment failure.
