The National Association of Proprietors of Private Schools, Lagos State, has said that the Federal Government has made real its promise to support private schools during this COVID-19 disruptions.
This was, on Friday, revealed by the President, NAPPS, Lagos State chapter, Mr Amusa Olawale, who also said that private schools in Lagos would resume for WASSCE on August 3.
According to him, 65 percent of of its members have received the loans.
“We facilitated the granting of FG N50bn palliative loans to 65 per cent of our members during the lockdown and just three weeks ago, we were credited,” he said, although he did not indicate how much.
On resumption, he said the schools were ready, having set up precautionary measures.
It is, however, not yet clear whether the Lagos State Government has officially approved the resumption and whether or not public schools will also resume or they will not be part of the exam.
“In the last meeting the South-West governors had with the commissioners for education, they are still working on how WASSCE would be conducted in September, because if these pupils don’t sit the exam, the 2020/2021 session will be seriously affected,” Olawale noted.
