The police on Monday arraigned a Mechanic, Silvanus Samson, 38, in a Grade I Area Court Nyanya, Abuja, for alleged reckless and dangerous driving.
The defendant, whose house address was not given, is being tried for driving dangerously and causing accident.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr D.F. Abba, told the court that the defendant drove his Nissan vehicle with registration number ABC 188 LZ in a dangerous manner on Mpape road, Abuja.
Abba said that the defendant allegedly collided with a Mazda 323 car with registration number ABC 577 ZW.
He alleged that the driver of the Mazda car, Mr Ademola Michael, sustained spinal cord injuries but was responding to treatment at the National Hospital, Abuja.
He further alleged that three other passengers were admitted at an Mpape clinic.
He told the court that the offence contravened the provisions of Sections 18 (1) RTL (2) and 7 (1) RTL of Federal Republic of Nigeria.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the offence.
The Judge, Mr Abdullahi Ogedengbe, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N1 million with one surety in like sum.
The Judge ruled that the surety should be a civil servant not lower than grade level 10, and
adjourned the case until July 21, for hearing.
