The Nigeria Immigration Service (NIS) has begun the 2020 sensitisation of the general public and its personnel on compliance procedures with service delivery through SERVICOM.
The NIS Spokesman, Mr Sunday James, disclosed this in a statement made available on Monday in Abuja.
NIS commenced the 2020 SERVICOM Week on July 20 to sensitise the general public and the personnel of the service on compliance procedures and conducts in a three-day programme.
SERVICOM, an acronym for Service Compact with all Nigerians, was established in 2004 as the outcome of a three-day Special Presidential Retreat on Service Delivery.
According to James, the agency prioritises service delivery to the general public, hence the need for such sensitisation to improve service delivery procedures and conducts for the benefits of the people.
“As a responsive and responsible agency that prioritises the demands of the public on the service, the NIS, through the SERVICOM unit, operates a contact centre.
“This is to receive all complaints forwarded by phone calls in person or other means of communication on service delivery, abuse, lack of satisfaction by NIS clients and customers with the aim of giving it quick attention.
“The Comptroller-General of NIS, Mr Muhammad Babandede, approved the SERVICOM week to educate, sensitise and inform the public and officers on compliance with service delivery,” he said.
The NIS spokesman said that the sensitisation was basically on how to address issues that centred on services rendered by NIS through the SERVICOM unit.
He added that during the sensitisation, there would be an interface with the public for complaints towards ensuring compliance with service delivery and standard.
James said that the SERVICOM unit had delivered on its mandate by ensuring proper monitoring and reporting of progress and performance of all the service windows across the directorates and zones.
