The Speaker of Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdullahi, has called for fervent prayers to end the challenges of insecurity and coronavirus in the country.
Abdullahi made the call in a statement issued by his Press Secretary, Jibrin Gwamna, on Friday in Keffi.
The speaker, while felicitating the Muslim faithful on the occasion of Eid-el Kabir, urged them to extend hands of fellowship to people of other faiths and the less-privileged in the society.
He called on Nigerians to show love to one another and be patriotic citizens in the interest of development.
Abdullahi described prayers as key to human existence, while calling on Nigerians to continue praying for peace, unity and progress of the country.
He called on faithful to intensify prayers for God’s intervention to end the challenges of insecurity and the dreaded COVID-19 pandemic.
Abdullahi advised citizens to adhere strictly to COVID-19 protocols to curtail its spread in the society.
He also urged Muslims to celebrate peacefully and to remain committed to constituted authorities.
“I appeal to the people of the state to continue to show understanding with government through prayers and support for more democratic dividends,” he said.
The speaker assured of the assembly’s commitment to legislating on things that would be in the interest of the state and the citizens.
