Northern governors mourn Ajimobi’s death
Former Gov. Abiola Ajimobi was a victim

Former Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, has backed a move by the Senate to rename the Ibadan Airport after his former colleague, Senator Abiola Ajimobi, who passed on on June 25.

Ajimobi and Amos were both members of the All Progressives Congress but they were not known to be very close politically.

Ajimobi tilted more towards Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, with whom Amosun seemed to harbour differences.

But at the Senate plenary on Tuesday July 7, while Senator Abdulfatahi Buhari moved the motion proposing the renaming of the airport after Ajimobi, it was seconded by Amosun.

The Senate then agreed on the move while it also observed a minute silence in Ajimobi honour.
