President of the Residents Doctors Association of Nigeria, Dr Aliyu Sokoma, has blasted Kaduna State Governor, Nasir el-Rufai, for cutting doctors’ salaries in the state.

According to Sokoma, the decision amounts to insensitivity based on the fact that health workers are at the forefront of the fight against coronavirus.

He said the governments – federal and state – were generally not responsive to doctors’ demands and entitlements.

Speaking on Channels Television on Monday night, Sonoma said the authorities had not paid the resident doctors the hazard allowance they promised.

He lamented that health workers were bearing the brunt, with some of their members having caught the virus, and some dying in the process.
