A member of the House of Representatives, Opeyemi Bamidele, is in a deep reflection mood.
Today, June 1, makes it two years he was shot during a political rally in Ekiti State and he cannot thank God enough for saving him.
In a Facebook post, he pampers God and people who were there for him with glowing words, swinging between Yoruba and English:
AM GRATEFUL FOR EVER
Ona Ope mi po, mi o le san tan,
Amo o sibe sibe, n.o.sewon ti mo lese
Baba Alaanu mi, e maa se o baba.
Mo dupe mo fiyin foluwa
Mo dupe mo fiyin foluwa
Aye o tori mi raja lowo baba oniposi
Mo dupe mo fiyin foluwa.
Bi ko sepe Oluwa
To wa nipa tiwa
Kini awa o ma wi
Nigba tesu gbogun rede…….
If not for the Lord
Who is on our side
What shall we now say?
It’s Exactly Two Years Today
That the Unfortunate Shooting Incident happened to me at the APC Party Office in Ajilosun, Ado-Ekiti, Ekiti State.
I am Forever Grateful to Almighty God for sparing my life
And for not allowing me to be a forgotten story today
My profound gratitude and appreciation also go to my esteemed leaders and benefactors; my ever loving family members, friends, comrades, associates, well wishers and all men and women of God who offered prayers on my behalf.
I remain indebted to Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu; our able Governor in Ekiti State, Dr. Kayode Fayemi (CON) and his amiable wife, Erelu Bisi Fayemi; His Excellency, Otunba Niyi Adebayo; Aare Bamofin, Chief Afe Babalola; His Excellency, Otunba Bisi Egbeyemi and several other leaders too numerous to mention here.
That Am Alive Today, Hale and Hearty, is to the Glory of God to whom belongs All Honour and Adoration.
Forever I shall Remain Grateful to the Lord.
Sen. Michael Opeyemi Bamidele
Chairman, Senate Committee on Judiciary, Human Rights and Legal Matters.
