There is another challenge on the reelection path of Governor Godwin Obaseki as he has been sued over an alleged certificate forgery.
This is coming about two weeks to the Edo State governorship primary of the All Progressives Congress.
It is also about two weeks after the Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Adams Oshiuomhole, emphasized that the certificates of all aspirants would be keenly checked.
The suit was filed in Abuja by Edobor Williams, Ugbesia Abudu Godwin and Amedu Dauda Anakhu before the Federal High Court.
According to them, the governor forged his Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) certificate in Classical Studies, from the University of Ibadan.
The plaintiffs insisted that Governor Obaseki is “not qualified to run or seek the office of the governor of Edo state” in the forthcoming 2020 governorship election as the alleged offence contravenes section 182(1)(i) of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria 1999 (as amended).
Counsel to the governor, Alex Ejesieme, has however described the suit as frivolous and irrelevant.
