Mary Chikezie has taken over as the 11th State Coordinator of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) in Ekiti.
Chekezie took over from Mrs Emmanuella Okpongete, at the NYSC Secretariat on Monday in Ado-Ekiti.
In her maiden address, Chikezie pleaded for the support of members of staff of the scheme in the state and other stakeholders in order to take NYSC scheme to a greater height.
The new state coordinator promised to do her best possible to make staff and corps members’ welfare paramount amongst other things.
She stated that she has come to Ekiti to implement the policies and programmes of the Director General of NYSC in Ekiti.
The new coordinator admonished the staff to serve God through humanity to be able to affect lives positively, especially corps members in their care.
She disclosed that she came in peace and that the entire workforce of NYSC Ekiti would equally enjoy the peace she has brought to the state.
Chikezie, who was transferred from Ebonyi State Secretariat, hailed from Enugu State and obtained her B.Sc. degree in Government Education from the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.
She was adjudged the best NYSC Inspector nationwide in the year 2009.
In her address, the out-going state Coordinator, Mrs Emmanuella Okpongete admonished members of staff to give their support to the new coordinator in order for her to achieve more than what she had achieved.
Okpongete eulogized staff for their hard work and commitment during her tenure, praying that God would continue to sustain the scheme in the state.
Some of the achievement of Okpongete were the purchase of over 2, 000 chairs for corps members on camp, building of an official quarters at the camp, reconstruction of camp clinic among others.
