A member of Lagos State House of Assembly, Mr Gbolahan Yishawu, on Tuesday said the demise of Sen. Bayo Osinowo (APC-Lagos East) had left a big vacuum in the state.
Yishawu, a third-term lawmaker representing Eti-Osa Constituency II, in a statement in Lagos, said that the death of Osinowo came to him as a rude shock and very painful.
The lawmaker, who is the Chairman of House Committee on Budget and Economic Planning, however, said that the great legacies of the former four-term member of the Lagos Assembly would live on.
He described late Osinowo, popularly known as “Pepperito”, as an amiable and dogged person who was interested in the greater good of all.
“This is a loss to our great party, Lagos East Senatorial District, Lagos State and indeed the entire nation.
“It is a loss to me personally too; this came to me as a rude shock, when I heard it.
“He has left a vacuum but I know his legacy lives on.
“May Almighty Allah forgives him and grants him Aljanah Firdaus,’’ Yishawu said.
He also extended his condolence to the National Leader of All Progressives Congress, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu, Gov. Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos State and the entire people of Lagos East Senatorial District.
The lawmaker also condoled with the immediate family of the late senator and prayed that God grant them the fortitude to bear the painful loss.
The first time senator represented Kosofe Constituency I in Lagos Assembly for four consecutive terms and served as Chairman House Committee on Lands for 16 years.
He died on Monday at a Lagos hospital after a brief illness at the age of 64.
The late lawmaker was elected into the Senate on the platform of the APC on Feb. 23, 2019.
Until his death, Osinowo served as the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Commerce, Industry and Investment.
