AIICO Insurance Plc. on Friday donated thousands of reusable face masks to three NGOs actively leading in public health initiative and humanitarian causes to curb COVID-19.
Mr Segun Olalandu, Head, Strategic Marketing and Communications, AIICO in a statement, listed the beneficiaries as Nigerian Red Cross, We Stand Foundation and the African Clean Up Initiative (ACI).
Olalandu explained that the donations were in alignment with the Nigerian Stock Exchange ‘Mask for All Nigerians’ campaign initiative and a demonstration of the company’s relentless commitment to its corporate social responsibility.
He noted that the gesture was also in line with the Federal Government’s directive for the compulsory use of face masks in public places as a means to curtail the spread of COVID-19 as it gradually eased lockdown nationwide.
Mr Abimbola Shobanjo, Corporate Responsibility and Sustainable Manager of the firm, also said that the company donated the reusable facemasks to facilitate adherence to safety guideline from the government and the World Health Organisation (WHO).
Recall that AIICO, during the nationwide lockdown, organised a feeding relief programme for the less privileged and also donated post-natal hygiene kits to nursing mothers in poor communities in Lagos.
